Marvel's Avengers: Every Brand New Story And Gameplay Detail JUST Revealed
1. It's Going To Be Packed With Microtransactions
With great customisation comes the Marvel's Avengers digital storefront, brought to you by Roy.
With such a huge focus on the games as a service model and customisation, you don't need to be a brain surgeon to realise that Marvel's Avengers will be littered with microtransactions. Thankfully, as of writing, they don't seem to be intrusive or predatory. However, the presentation did mention that some customisation options will be locked behind a paywall.
Various outfits, user icons and emotes will be available on the storefront, offering players even more ways to stand out from the crowd during online play.
Now this kind of monetisation isn't that bad considering other companies and their practices. As developers are feeling increased pressure from players to make games last for years, there has to be some form of recurring spending going on, else they wouldn't be able to continue working on the title.
It looks like Crystal Dynamics are keeping to their word when it comes keeping microtransactions to cosmetics only, rather than items required to progress on the campaign. The company are usually quite ethical when it comes to in-game purchases, so hopefully that attitude will stick even with a game of this magnitude.
