Marvel's Avengers: Every Brand New Story And Gameplay Detail JUST Revealed

Crystal Dynamics accidentally let a huge plot point slip during the stream, but this little nugget seemed to go over many heads.

Before now, it was unknown what happened to him and most assumed he either sacrificed himself, or was simply a tragic case of collateral damage. Everyone figured we would get an answer when the game releases, but no-one expected such a casual reveal during the War Table presentation.

During the gameplay showcase, Thor has joined the rest of the Avengers for the first time since A-Day. They are aboard the Chimera helicarrier, fighting off AIM robots. The God of Thunder and Hulk have just finished off a heavy mech when an off-screen voice (presumably MODOK) berates him for the death of Steve Rodgers.

"You killed Captain America, Thor. Who else will fall before your hammer?"

It's a major plot point, but it's obviously not the entire story. Earlier in the showcase, Kamala brings CCTV footage from aboard the helicarrier before the explosion. In the footage, we see George Tarleton lock the doors behind Cap, trapping him aboard the doomed vessel.

The only mystery now is, how was he able to pin Cap's death on the Odinson?
