Mass Effect 4: 10 Features That MUST Return
4. Range Of Character Backgrounds And Personality Types
This is so important to Mass Effect, as the dynamic range in character backgrounds and personalities is crucial to your immersion in the world. Your crew is arguably the most important part of any Mass Effect game; the relationships between you and them are what cement most players’ affection for the series.
Since so many hours of the main trilogy and Andromeda are devoted to learning more about and building relationships with your crew, it’s fundamental that all are different and bring unique elements/perspectives to your ship. The diverse narratives in Mass Effect 2 should be the template for any future Mass Effect game, as each crew member has their own grief that channels them into taking on board a suicide mission.
Each one gets time to explore the variety of their circumstances, reacts to situations in a different way and can have an assortment of different connections with the protagonist. Jack for example clashed with Miranda; and could have an extremely varied relationship with Shepard, especially when sex became a part of the equation.
Mass Effect 4 should lean into the diversity of the series, aesthetically and internally, to build the most unique people and relationships possible.
