Mass Effect 4: 10 Playable Races That Would Change Everything
9. Drell
Everyone likes a good ninja/assassin-type character, and none spring to mind more when thinking of Mass Effect than Thane, the disciplined world-weary warrior who's two-part contract killer and one-part loving father. We don't get a whole lot of backstory for him being he's very much focussed on the task at hand, and his side missions centred around a 'sins of the father'-style narrative as you attempted to stop his son from getting too lost in the galaxy's underbelly throughout ME2. However, the Drell have plenty stories to tell, and as the accompanying Mass Effect novels would go on to reference they actually lost their homeworld only to be saved by the "Big stupid jellyfish(s)" themselves, the Hanar. Tapping into this narrative would give a cool connection to the destruction of Earth from 3, as well as gameplay-wise fleshing out your abilities, as it always felt like Thane could move like the wind yet was restrained to the cover-based nature of combat at hand.
