Mass Effect 4: 10 Reasons BioWare Must Start A New Saga

7. A Chance To Redeem The EU

Mass Effect novels Like any franchise that has made a lot of money, Mass Effect has an Expanded Universe of novels, comics, and audio/visual media (plus some mobile games). Some of these stories are written by or with the actual writers of the games, while others have not. But they are all mediocre at best and horrifically terrible at worst, telling stories that no one cares about and barely exploring the incredible sandbox that is the Mass Effect universe. ME4 would be a fresh start for the whole franchise, including the EU. The current EU is mostly fluff pieces that set up things for the games (The Illusive Man, the Collectors, Kahlee Sanders, and Cerberus taking over Omega were all introduced in the EU) and depend on the games€™ reputations to draw in readers. A new, better EU would be one that stands apart from the story of the ME4 saga and manages to draw in readers by exploring the parts of the ME universe the games can€™t. It should make you want to read the books and comics, instead of just reading their plot summaries off of a Wiki.
