Mass Effect 4: Andromeda - 10 Small Changes That Would Make A Big Difference

8. More Dynamic Conversations

The original Mass Effect, while certainly not the first game to implement branching dialogue paths, did take it to the next level through the use of Bioware€™s now infamous dialogue wheel. Intuitively designed and fully voiced, it has since become the standard for AAA RPGs. However, it was still fairly rigid. Opening and closing statements would always be the same, leading to sometimes comical interactions such as the now infamous €œShepard. Wrex€ exchange from the first game. Obviously it would be too much to ask for every interaction you have with the characters to be different every time; the limitations of game design would make this a monumental, if not impossible, task. But even having a handful of diverging lines of dialogue here or there would go a long way towards making the world and the characters feel more lifelike. Maybe instead of having a character say hello or goodbye in the same way and with the same inflection every time, they could draw from a handful of different statements and line readings from the voice actors. It would make conversations you have with your crew feel more organic and authentic. Again, asking for fully dynamic and always-changing conversations would be asking too much, but even minor changes like this would be greatly appreciated by the fans and make Andromeda that much more technologically accomplished.
