Mass Effect 4: Andromeda - 10 Small Changes That Would Make A Big Difference

4. Mission Structure

So far, Mass Effect has stuck to allowing you to only bring two crew members with you on a mission. The problem with this design was it incentivized you to pick your favorites and stick with them. It also left certain characters out of missions when it would make more sense to bring everyone along. After all, wouldn€™t the chances of success be far greater if you utilized every talent at your disposal? Andromeda is a good place to start incorporating characters in new and interesting ways so that it always feels like everyone is involved. Sure, it would be great if you could take more than two characters with you at a time, but even if you can€™t, why not be able to assign other positions ala Mass Effect 2€™s suicide mission? Or better yet, make it so that you have to bring along certain characters depending on their expertise and the nature of the mission. Little design choices like this that force you to step out of your preferred roster would open up the cast and get them all involved. The missions would feel more dynamic and compelling, and Andromeda€™s mission structure would feel all the more varied as a result.
