4. More Dynamic Open-World (Planets?)
As previously mentioned with the original Mass Effect, you could argue it was overly ambitious with the huge size and scale of the planets that the game had available to explore, especially for an early Xbox 360 title. Due to the game coming out so early in the console generation, the tech wasnt there to make the worlds that were available live up to their full potential. Now the tech
is there, and as weve seen in
numerous huge open-worlds, it is definitely possible to make that live up to what was first envisioned back in 2007. With Andromeda moving back to an apparently more exploration-based game design, the areas available can be more diverse and interactive than ever before. The original E3 debut showed off what would appear to be six in-game worlds that would more than likely be open to travel through. With this focus back on exploration, maybe the game will have more systems where you could potentially find settlements and residents of that specific planet, multiplying the length of the game as each planet could offer open playgrounds for side missions and exploration. This is where Bioware can learn from developers like CD Projekt RED and Bethesda, who fill their games to the brim with interesting encounters and wide open-worlds, available to the player if they wish to explore them. Taking those best aspects and adding in the best of the Mass Effect universe has the potential to be an unprecedented combo, unmatched by any other open-world developer.
