Mass Effect 5: 10 Fan Demands We Need To See

8. A Villain With Actual Personality

Mass Effect 5 Thane
Bioware

Speaking of the Kett, moving into the next sequel it wouldn't be a bad idea if Bioware just threw them out altogether. Although Andromeda ended on a cliffhanger, the game's main villain, the Archon, is dead, meaning they could easily write off the species entirely moving forward.

Because really, both the Kett and the Archon were probably the worst villains to ever grace the series. Somehow having even less personality than the A.I. Geth from the original game, the Archon spent the entirety of Andromeda hatching an end of the world plan because... reasons?

There was no tension in the plot because the enemies you were fighting against were so cartoonish that they couldn't possibly pose a threat. In a franchise that's boasted complex villains like Saren and The Illusive Man, the Archon paled in comparison, and the entire story suffered as a result.

After the universe-ending plot of Mass Effect 3, Bioware didn't need to create a game that had galactic stakes straight away, and moving into the sequel a focus on a more complex and intimate villain would go a long way in refocusing the franchise on the characters.
