Mass Effect: Andromeda - 10 Core Improvements Fans Haven't Considered
2. Ship Customisation
The Normandy in its various incarnations was never really customisable, per se. Sure, you could choose whether or not to upgrade it in ME2 (spoiler: you'd be really dumb not to), and you could buy pet fish and model rockets for your cabin, but other than that it always had the same basic design. It always felt like Shepard's ship - so for Andromeda, it would feel a lot more like the player's ride if you could properly personalise it to your own specifications. This would work especially well in combination with space dogfights - you'd be able to choose how heavy your ship's armour would be - but at the cost of speed and manoeuvrability. You could change to different types of missiles or guns, faster engines in a straight line but which don't quite turn as well, even a totally different ship design - there's a ton of different possibilities. And of course, you would still be able to fill your fishtanks, or collect your figurines or whatever else you need to feel at home in your cabin. This could even be expanded on inside the ship - if you want, say, an extra missile battery, then you might not have enough power for a research lab so you don't get as many upgrades - or something similar. There's a lot of potential for variation, and it would add that extra intimate touch to one of your crucial team members.
