Mass Effect Andromeda: 11 Leaked Details You're Not Supposed To Know
4. Intense Combat Is A Focussed Feature Of The Game
Alongside this potential for exploration to take centre stage, is the more traditional staple of action in Mass Effect; third-person shooting. The questionnaire simply asked if the user felt there was "the right amount" of combat within their demo, which is inherently going to be subjective. However, as Lead Producer Cameron Lee tweeted back in January, even the first hour of the game is an action-packed ride that has you - and I quote - "shooting things in the face". Falling back on the assumption EA and Bioware are aiming for a wide audience, nothing says "mass appeal" like a Call of Duty-style scripted sequence, complete with explosions and a ton of things popping off at once. Mass Effect 3 tried this and mostly pulled it off mechanically, the only problem came with pacing, as in that original narrative it always felt like the Reapers arrived way, way too early. Contrast this to the original, and simply due to the third-person gameplay not being as refined as it was in the next two instalments, there was a greater focus on dialogue, traversing social spaces and taking the Mako out for a spin instead. Whether you're a fan of the original Mass Effect or its action-happy brethren, will determine how much you can get excited for Andromeda's continuation of the latter.
