Mass Effect Andromeda: 9 Gameplay Overhauls You Need To Know About
3. The Nomad/Mako Was Designed By The Need For Speed Team
One of the benefits of EA having so many prolific development houses under their roof is cross-pollination of influence, resulting in this case with the Need for Speed guys apparently designing the physics of the new drivable Nomad.
A successor to the forever-floaty and bouncing Mako, this surely means the Nomad is more geared towards speedy ground-based travel, rather than the jet-boosted cliff-diving of the original game. Andromeda's various 'Welcome to the Initiative' clips have still shown the Nomad gaining height with the help of some vertical thrusters, but the focus seems to entirely be on keeping things on the surface.
This does fall in line with the very first teaser we ever saw for Andromeda, where the Nomad burst past the screen and tore off across a sand dune. Will this have much impact on how Bioware design their planets, to allow for stretches of drivable terrain? We'll have to wait and see.
