Hope you liked No Man's Sky, because for some time now, both Hello Games' divisive masterwork and ME: Andromeda have been drawing comparisons in terms of crafting entire galaxies for us to explore.

A large part of ingratiating/interacting with the world in NMS comes in the form of scanning, and although you'll have noticed Ryder looking over a new species of plant life in Andromeda's demo, what you may not have noticed, is that there's a dedicated button to this functionality - R2/RT.

The scan that comes back offers up some information as to potential categories this species can fall into, but ultimately, it's up to the player to ponder on its origins. Point being: Across your time in ME:A, because every last thing you see is entirely new to the human mind, you're going to need to scan and analyse each and every one.
