8. The Protagonist Works With Their In-Game Sibling And Father

In the original trilogy, Shepard's parents never played a major part in the series as they were either dead or somewhere far away, depending on the backstory you chose. That said, although they weren't exactly necessary, it would've been interesting to see which parent gave Shepard his iconic vacant expression.

With Andromeda though, the Ryder family are front and centre.

Although Ryder's mother remains unnamed and mostly unmentioned, their father and sibling are confirmed to make numerous appearances within the main plot. Bioware has confirmed that the man in the N7 armor is the protagonist's father, and will play a role in the story along with the brother/sister combo.

If you choose to play as the male Ryder, then your sister will be present throughout the story, and vice versa. It's unclear how prominent a role they will play, but it'll be an appreciated change from the lone-wolf Shepard that had no familial connections.
