Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: 10 Reasons It's Awesome

8. It's Violent As Hell

There's no questioning the fact that this is the most violent of the Metal Gear Solid games, hands down. Whether you want to bisect, disect or rip the spines of enemies out, it's all in here. The main appeal of Revengeance became apparent in the first gameplay video released several years ago, and that's the Blade Mode, which allows Raiden to slice and dice his enemies in a number of imaginative and really freaking gory ways. Inarguably the most satisfying use of the blade is against people; slicing enemies into dozens of chunks never gets old, and it's only slightly less enjoyable against the game's mechanised enemies. Of course, the game's requirement for you to slice off mechanical left hands to upgrade yourself is goofy as Hell, but the slicing gimmick is generally so well-executed that it doesn't matter.
