Metal Gear Solid: 20 Things That Made You Love Hideo Kojima
7. Returning To Shadow Moses (Twice) In MGS 4
Pretty much all of Guns of the Patriots is one big tribute to the Metal Gear fanbase; from the endless cutscenes that pack as many beloved moments as possible to the thematically tied-in boss characters - but there's one level that stands alone as one of the most satisfying to the millions that grew up devoting hundreds of hours to the first game. Not only did you get to go back to Shadow Moses when Snake falls asleep and the game boots up the original Playstation version of MGS (ending in a fantastic morph between old and new Snake's character models), but when you actually touch down and realise the team have reworked the iconic Shadow Moses base into the newer game engine, it was pure lump-in-your-throat time.
