Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - 11 Easter Eggs True Fans Will Love

8. The CD Case

While searching for the final flashback in the Deja Vu mission, you will notice that in your briefing menu there is no photographic visual cue. Instead, Miller tells you that the clue is on the back of the disc case or in the game's digital manual. And it just so happens that there are picture clues on the back of the case - and most likely in the digital manual as well - that will lead you to the final flashback. It is certainly an unorthodox way to not only guide the player to an objective, but also to break the fourth wall in general. But of course this isn't the first time Kojima has done this, as in the original Metal Gear Solid, there came a point where you needed Meryl's codec frequency. And the only way to find it was by taking Colonel Campbell's advice and looking at the back of the game case, which blatantly displayed a picture of a codec conversation with Snake and Meryl, and naturally her codec frequency. In hindsight, it's still a brilliant way at furthering player engagement whilst simultaneously shattering the fourth wall, without a care of how stupid it might sound.
