Metal Gear Solid V: Ranking The Missions From Worst To Best

11. Phantom Limbs (Episode 1)

Overview: Rescue your old partner, Kazuhira Miller. He has been captured by the Soviets and is being interrogated at Ghwandai Town. Following the super-intense prologue, the first official mission of MGS V is a pretty breezy introduction to the game's mechanics, as you have to invade a town and find your buddy Kaz. It's simple stuff but leads to Snake's first interaction with the Skulls, who are lying in wait to stop you escaping the area. Thankfully all you have to do here is run away on D-Horse with Kaz strapped to the back and you'll flee them soon enough, or if you're re-playing the mission, you can just pick a separate LZ and avoid the Skulls entirely, which is one of the mission's optional objectives. Considering how easy some of the later missions are, at least this one comes packed with the element of surprise, and makes it clear that these enemies are probably going to be pains in your a** throughout the game.
