The Context: As Big Boss ventures through the jungle he comes across what is arguably the most ridiculous character Kojima has created in the franchise so far; a hundred-plus year old expert sniper so ancient and steeped in his surroundings that he's begun to photosynthesise. Who knew that such a preposterous idea would result in one of the most unforgettable loss battles of all time? The Fight: Ideally, video game sequels are supposed to improve on the mechanics of past titles; in this case Kojima Productions took the original Sniper Wolf battle and placed it into the jungle setting, which could have been enough considering that the game already has more advanced shooting mechanics, but they didn't stop there. This battle is instead spread across three different connecting areas of the jungle, and in turn is quite possibly the largest spacing ever for a boss battle. This also means that the fight is a slow burn and can take an incredible amount of time to even damage The End, let alone kill him. On average, it roughly takes anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to successfully when this war of strategy and patience on a first run. With that said, it's also a good thing that the fight is addictive and exhilarating every time it is played. There are also so many unique and creative ways to have fun with the fight, like challenging yourself to manoeuvre your way around the jungle and successfully sneak up on him, shooting him point blank with a shotgun. If for whatever reason you don't like a fight, you can also take advantage of one of the most brilliant Easter Eggs in gaming history; setting the internal clock on your PlayStation 2 ahead multiple years which will actually kill The End of old age once you launch back into the game.
