Metal Gear Survive: 10 Brutally Honest Early Impressions You Need To Know
6. The Enemies Are Dull (But Deadly)
While any version of Metal Gear Survive was going to take a tremendous amount of flack when it was first announced, the decision to make the title's enemies zombies was even more generic than anyone could have imagined.
Shooting brainless hordes of the undead was starting to get old back in 2010, so to not only release a whole game with these shamblers as the main enemy - but to actively retrofit a beloved series in order to make these monsters make sense - was seen as a huge mistake.
Unfortunately, it seem as though the opinion on the enemies hasn't changed now that the final build is out there. The zombies are admittedly more deadly than those in other games, and fighting off against a group of them can be intense, but there's no getting around just how dull they are.
There are a couple of variations to the base enemies of course, but sadly none of these additional monsters are anything to write home about. Some are more armoured than others, some explode when you're near them and others are intensely receptive to your movements, but very few require different tactics, and even fewer bring anything visually interesting to the table.
