6. Hollywood Screenwriters

Since the first Black Ops, it has been abundantly aware to both developers that, given how massive an entertainment product the Call of Duty games are, they are likely to attract the attention of the some of the best writers in the entertainment business. It's no surprise, then, that David S. Goyer (who co-wrote The Dark Knight) scripted both Black Ops games, and Infinity Ward roped in Paul Haggis (Crash) to pen Modern Warfare 3. We can only hope they continue along this trajectory for Modern Warfare 4, which should perhaps bring in yet another brilliant mind to keep the tone and style fresh; imagine how awesome Shane Black could be, bringing some of his brilliantly acerbic wit to the battlefield. It's important that if video games want to aspire to the same reputation as Hollywood, they need to employ similar talented people in their creation; these moves towards critically acclaimed writers only ensure that, as long as developers continue to stick to this notion rather than try to cut financial corners by developing the story in-house.
