Monster Hunter: World - 12 Incredibly Helpful Secrets You Need To Know
2. Why Capture A Monster?
So... it's called Monster Hunter, and yet there's the option to capture them instead? What gives?
Well, outside of specific quests that literally fail if you kill the beast instead, there are many huge benefits to bringing a beast back alive.
Mainly, once you capture something, it'll open up a separate Arena quest to face the creature one-on-one. Doing this actually gives you a far higher chance of unlocking rarer monster parts, alongside being the only way you can get certain pieces needed for Elder Melder's High Rank equipment.
You also have access to a number of traps/weapons situated around the arena, and besides being devastatingly effective to their health totals, are just plain fun to use.
Don't worry if you're not seeing the need for these materials in your particular playthrough - it's actually after the main story concludes that a wider variety of rarer parts comes into demand.
