Monster Hunter: World - 12 Incredibly Helpful Secrets You Need To Know

11. Mounting: Hit Attack To Clamber Back On If You Get Knocked Off

Monster Hunter World
Capcom

The Monster Hunter franchise and mounting beasts go together like Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon - something that World capitalises on with some of the best animations and set-piece attacks the series has ever seen.

However, should you be unlucky enough to miss your prompts (look to the top right to see when you should be attacking or defending), know that there is an in-air recovery you can pull off by prodding the attack buttons.

This is dependant on which animation you get thrown off into (if it's the Tekken-esque corkscrew you'll be too delirious to recover), but if you're thrown back up into the air and still have control, just hit the attack buttons (square or triangle/X or Y) to fire out your grapple hook and clamber back on.

There are certain other factors like whether the monster high-tails it in another direction or is otherwise misplaced, creating too much distance, but most of the time, being thrown to one side isn't actually the end.
