Mortal Kombat 1: Every Character Ranked Worst To Best

6. Li Mei

Few were expecting Li Mei to be a tank on the battlefield (I'm as surprised as you are).

Li Mei is a nimble little thing, able to annihilate her opponent with easy-to-learn moves at dizzying speeds. Her Chain Reaction special is a handy distance-closer that concludes with rapid-fire attack. She has so many solid kombos, Li Mei users can beat their enemy to a pulp without using half of them.

Then there's her secret weapon: The lantern. Once summoned, this deadly beacon floats across the air, compromising the enemy's ability to jump. With her opponent's movements limited, Li Mei should have little trouble pounding them senseless. When her foe is cornered, it's possible to perform followups endlessly by repeatedly summoning lanterns. (This little trick will probably be patched out, since it makes the lantern far too OP).

As a bonus, Li Mei is among the most compelling characters in the Story Mode. Thanks to Kelly Hu's performance and solid writing, players will find themselves wanting to learn everything they can about the Outworld bodyguard.
