Mortal Kombat 1: Every Character Ranked Worst To Best

4. Sub-Zero

Being the only kombatant that's appeared in every main MK game, fans safely assume Sub-Zero will be among the best fighters in each instalment.

Rest assured, MK1's incarnation of Sub-Zero is the best yet. Several of his kombos strike high and low, making them difficult to block. His slide effectively launches rivals, allowing the Lin Kuei Grandmaster to perform a juggle or air kombo. Alternatively, he can freeze his opponent while in the air, extending the kombo chain further.

Speaking of which, Sub-Zero's greatest advantage has always been his freeze missile, since it sets up a free hit. Using Frost as his Kameo, the cryomancing duet can freeze their prey twice in a row, setting up an onslaught of merciless kombos.

Because his move-set is easy to pick up, Sub-Zero is solid for beginners. But once mastered, the chilling ninja is a force to be reckoned with.
