Mortal Kombat: 10 Absolute Worst Characters Ever
5. Taven
Taven never really stood a chance did he? The character was introduced to the series at a time when Mortal Kombat began to feel creatively bankrupt, and he is the epitome of that.
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is where Taven made his debut and the super-generic looking character was completely lost in the shuffle. You see, Armageddon is a game in which the roster featured 63 characters. 63!
For context, Mortal Kombat 11 has 25 playable characters. Armageddon featured all but two of the characters from the entire history of Mortal Kombat, and Taven was one of the new blood. He appeared alongside Daegon as the only newcomers to the game but both were boring and entirely forgettable.
Why NetherRealm even bothered to introduce two new characters to an already bursting roster is confusing, but even more-so when you consider how little effort was put into either Taven or Daegon.
Taven had a dull moveset, uninspired look, and even a generic voice making him as forgettable as any. He does have a decent backstory however, so we wouldn't be bummed if he made a return down the line, albeit with a radically different look.
