Mortal Kombat 11: 10 Reasons It's NetherRealm's Best Game Ever

5. A Great And Varied Roster

Mortal Kombat 11
NetherRealm

Arguably the most important part of a fighting game is the roster, and MK has always had solid ones. MK9 was very much a throwback to classic MK, featuring all the characters long time fans would expect to see.

MKX shook things up, adding a whole host of new characters. Some of these, the Kombat Kids, Erron Black, and Kotal Khan, were resounding hits, while others fell a little flat (sorry, Ferra/Torr).

MK11 does a good job of combining the best of both worlds, taking many classic characters and pairing them with the freshmen from MKX. Many fan favorites return such as Baraka and Skarlet, and all have been iterated on in ways that feel true to the past games.

NetherRealm keep the returning characters from feeling repetitive, there is no longer five or six identical looking ninjas - the roster is varied with cowboys, goddesses, and soldiers.

MK11 also adds some new characters to the MK family. All three, Geras, Cetrion, and Kollector are all diverse, each having their own unique look and move set. They fit nicely into the world of MK, without feeling forced.
