14. Raiden

Status: Officially confirmed & seen as playable.

A deviation from the standard Raiden we know and love, Dark Raiden is the "form" this Elder God is taking at least at the start of MK 11, having had his mind corrupted by years of future visions and time travel between the events of Mortal Kombat 9 and 10.

Both those games saw the original Raiden send his consciousness back through time to avoid being slain by Shao Kahn in MK 9's opening scenes, but that took a heavy toll, turning Raiden into a merciless warrior who only wants to obliterate his enemies once and for all.

This is the main thrust of the story, as after beheading Shinnok and going rogue, his actions trigger the arrival of Kronika, but we'll get to her very soon...
