Nearly every rumoured character in Mortal Kombat eventually appeared in the series; Tremor, The Terminator, Khameleon, Skarlet, etc. At this moment, there are two characters who have been rumoured for over 20 years but have not officially debuted in the franchise yet.

In the Pit stage in Mortal Kombat II, two fighters can be seen in the background. The one on the right is a burning man called Blaze, who made his debut as a playable character in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and served as the final boss in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

The fighter on the left is clearly a palette-swap of Liu Kang but the red markings on his trousers and headband are green. This character, who fans have dubbed Hornbuckle, was believed to be a secret character in the game but this was turned out to be mere speculation.

In Mortal Kombat Gold, which was an updated version of MK4, a demon called Belokk was meant to serve as a brand-new character. Ed Boon revealed several pictures of the Belokk but decided to cut him due to time restraints. Sadly, there are no plans to introduce either character in the MK saga.
