The protagonist of the God of War series, Kratos, joined the 2011 version of Mortal Kombat as a playable character. f you look closely at the Greek warrior while a Fatality is being performed on him, you may notice his animations are slightly different from everyone else's.

When a character has their heart pulled out or their legs ripped off, it will activate animations in the victim's face to highlight their terror and pain. Strangely, this doesn't happen to Kratos. The Spartan demi-god only has one emotion throughout the game; anger.

The company who oversee the God of War series told NetherRealm Studios that Kratos could be a part of Mortal Kombat under the condition he never looks "weak". Considering the franchise earned its reputation by having characters ripping each others' limbs out, this posed quite a problem. As a result, the developers tweaked nearly every single attack done to Kratos to ensure he never appears to be scared or in pain.

So, if you're a diehard fan of God of War, you should appreciate how much effort it took to get Kratos into this game.
