2. The Reversed Language (Mortal Kombat: Deception)

In MK: Deception's Konquest mode, you play as a young man called Shujinko (which means "protagonist"). On your travels, an entity called Damashi encourages Shujinko to locate artefacts to bring balance to the Realms.

Throughout your journey, many characters will speak to Shujinko in a bizarre language. Although the dialogue sounds like gibberish, they are speaking in English backwards. If you play their dialogue backwards, you will hear them say things like, "The forces of good and evil balance each other through the act of kombat."

Some of the dialogue is self-referential like "I am speaking backwards. Spooky, isn't it?" or "Parents of the world, there is no Satanic content hidden in the backwards speech in Mortal Kombat". Ironically, that last quote isn't true since another reversed line is, "Shao Kahn, Lucifer (AKA Satan) and Raiden are of the same race of beings."

At the end of Konquest, Shujinko learns his ally, Damashi, has deceived him and is actually the game's antagonist, Onaga the Dragon King. However, the player would have known this if they were paying attention to the garbled messages since one of them says, "Beware, Damashi is the Dragon King."
