Mortal Kombat Movie: Every Character & Actor Confirmed So Far

One of the characters introduced way back in 1993's Mortal Kombat II, Major Jackson "Jax" Briggs is the leader of an Earthrealm special forces unit that keeps an eye on incursions from other worlds. Receiving a call for rescue from Sonya when she'd been kidnapped by Shang Tsung, Jax entered Outworld to find her and was drawn into the new tournament taking place there.

Depending on the timeline (Mortal Kombat's long storyline has been reset thanks to time travel, bringing some who'd died back to life and letting others fall in their place), Jax either had his arms cut off by Baraka or had them telekinetically torn from his body by Ermac. These were replaced by the trademark metal arms he's used since.

While these arms allow him to perform feats of strength beyond that of normal men, this otherwise normal soldier was somehow about to punch the ground to create earthquakes and throw fireballs even before gaining his cybernetic arms.

Mehcad Brooks has been cast as Jax in the upcoming movie. A former underwear model who has had recurring roles in several shows in the past fifteen years, Brooks most recent claim to fame is his role as James Olsen in the CW's Supergirl show.
