Mortal Kombat Movie: Every Character Confirmed So Far

A blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot shows Kabal throwing down with Liu Kang in what is probably Outworld. The hook-wielding speedster can be seen in the left half of the frame when Liu Kang unleashes his fire dragon move, alongside another VERY quick shot in fuller costume from behind.

Those blades are unmistakably Kabal's, so it'll be interesting to see which role he plays for or against the heroes of Earthrealm.

Kabal, in modern MK lore, was a part of Kurtis Stryker's police force, despite having history associated with Kano's Black Dragon clan. He's badly burned by Kintaro and holds deep resentment for Kano as a result of his condition. In games prior to 2011's reboot, Kabal was most associated battling the imaginatively titled Red Dragon clan, rivals of the Black, where he squared off against their leader, Mavado.

This is one of the best parts about Mortal Kombat - all the characters have defined backstories and distinct personalities from each other, even someone like Kabal who has never been at the forefront of the series. Whether his story is included in the film is another matter, but to see him whizz around causing problems for anyone like a stabby Flash will be a joy to behold.
