N64 Classic Mini: 10 Essential Games That Must Be Included
7. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Although many lament the Kirby series for being too repetitive and easy, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards introduced a gameplay mechanic that was wholly unique in the series; combining Kirby's iconic copy abilities.
The whole idea of being able to combine two copy abilities at once is what makes the Crystal Shards so exciting. For example; mixing Kirby's Bomb ability with Needle results in a spiky bomb that can deal ranged and close damage. Meanwhile, combining Fire and Ice just causes Kirby to melt, resulting in literally nothing happening. This fantastic level of experimentation is what makes Kirby 64 so great.
Besides that, Kirby 64 also has fantastic level design, wonderful music and is easily one of the strongest adventures in the whole series. Considering this, it's disappointing that it doesn't often get the recognition it deserves.
Perhaps Nintendo including Kirby 64 on the N64 Mini might help show those who missed it exactly how awesome it is.
