Although hardly a new tip, as it concerns a feature which has been a staple of NBA 2K for years now, it's still very important to pay attention to the shooting meter. Timing the release of your jump-shot to coincide with the right part of the bar can feel awkward at first, but will soon become a matter of muscle-memory. Be careful to remember that different players have faster and slower releases. Shot selection is just as important as the actual timing of a release. Just like in real basketball, it makes no sense to throw up an ambitious attempt at the first opportunity. Look around the court for better-positioned teammates, pay attention to the shot clock, and try to avoid shooting with a defender's hand in your face. The best place to work on this is in MyCareer mode, where shot selection has an important bearing on your teammate grade.
