The price difference between the current and next-generation standard versions of the game isn't necessarily drastic, being an additional ten dollars if you opt to choose either a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X copy of the game. Despite this, the price change has left many fans pondering what led to the decision, something that NBA were quick to answer.

A frequently asked questions section of their official website elaborated on the topic as much as it needed to:

NBA 2K21 is being built from the ground up for next-gen and will feature new additions and improvements only possible on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. We'll be providing much more detail and specifics later this year.

Simply put, NBA 2K's team are crafting something entirely new for PS5 and Xbox Series X players to ensure they're getting their money's worth. They haven't yet stated what these 'new additions and improvements' could possibly be referring to, however, we've only seen just how outstanding the graphics look on next-gen consoles.

Regardless of the ten dollar price difference, NBA games have a tendency to be worth the money no matter what. Why would 2K21 be any different?
