New Pokémon Snap: 10 Things We Want To See

8. Make The Player Work For The Photographs

The premise of the original game sounds simple but the player needed to rely on elaborate methods to find some of the more obscure Pokémon. For example, you had to coax Magikarp up a waterfall to evolve him into Gyarados. Since the evolved form of Magikarp never appears out in the open in the game, this was the only way to snap a picture of Gyarados. You also had to snap pictures of landmarks that resemble Pokémon including a rock formation that looks like Kingler or a puff of smoke in the shape of Koffing.

Now, imagine taking that concept the extra mile. Similar to getting a star in the Mario games, the player could have to perform a series of tasks to make a Pokémon appear. You could also have to take pictures of the Pokémon carrying out very specific actions like a Squirtle riding a Lapras or a bird capturing a Magikarp. You would need to lead the Pokémon to specific spots using your collectables to snap the required picture. This would be a good idea as it forces the player to use their head rather than waiting around for the right Pokémon to appear.
