New Pokémon Snap: 10 Things We Want To See

6. A Real-Time Clock And Weather Patterns

New Pokemon Snap
Nintendo

Pokémon Snap originally started off as a completely different game called Jack and the Beanstalk, which was meant to be released for the Nintendo 64 add-on, the 64DD. The game would have focused on growing beans in real-time by utilising the internal clock of the 64DD. When the add-on tanked, Jack and the Beanstalk was reworked into Pokémon Snap.

It is a shame that the real-time mechanic wasn't implemented but now is the perfect time to try again. If New Pokémon Snap had day and night cycles, it could affect the environment, the behaviour of the Pokémon, and the quality of photos. It would force the player to take pictures of Pokémon before they went to sleep or wait until night-time to capture images of the nocturnal wildlife.

Weather patterns would be another great addition to the game. A thunderstorm could cause Pokémon to hide while making electric-based creatures run rampant. Rain could flood certain areas, forcing the player to find alternative paths around the island. This would be a neat idea because the levels will be slightly different depending on when you play them, giving the game a lot more replay value.
