2. Super Mario Odyssey
Odyssey was the best Mario game in years. Certainly the best since Super Mario Galaxy 2. It was the biggest Mario game to date and was a step forward for the series, albeit a rather small one. Why not capitalise on that with a sequel that takes us to several new kingdoms?
The 3D Mario games are amongst the most popular Nintendo publishes, yet we've only gotten a few throughout the years. Mario 64 was the first and, by far, the most groundbreaking; Sunshine on the Gamecube was a delight and the most underrated; while Galaxy 1 & 2 were incredible Wii titles that evolved the series in unexpected ways.
Mario Odyssey didn't evolve the series in any real way but it refined and polished the formula to near perfect standards, and we're left wanting more. Odyssey took Mario to some unique locales like a dinosaur plateau, a searing desert, a soaring forest, a black and white French painting, the always-dreaded underwater levels, the streets of New York, and even the moon.
Well how about a new title that continues the journey and takes us to a quaint village, a thick jungle, and perhaps even through time?
