Nintendo Switch: 10 Harsh Truths Nobody Wants To Admit
4. If You've Got No Interest In Portability, You Lose Out On A Lot
The Nintendo Switch's most heavily marketed feature is the fact that it's a home console that you can take on the go. It sounds fairly amazing. The ability to take Skyrim or Zelda: Breath Of The Wild out with you or on holiday is incredibly exciting. But not everybody is interested in portable gaming.
In fact, many people are content to play games in the comfort and privacy of their own home, and genuinely don't intend on using the system for any sort of portable experience.
Choice is a good thing, sure, and the fact it's there is great. But the reality is, if you have no interest in portability, then the Nintendo Switch is needlessly gimped from a hardware perspective. It's all but been firmly established that the Nintendo Switch will be closer to the Wii U than the PS4 and Xbox One in terms of sheer power.
So while Nintendo's combining of its handheld and home console markets may be a smart business move (that remains to be seen), it sucks for people who are only invested in the home console side of things. If it wasn't portable, the Switch would be way more powerful, increasing the chance of current generation third party support as well as just having better graphics.
