Nintendo Switch: 10 Improvements It STILL Needs
4. Applications
The modern gaming console has become more than just playing games. They are now your all-in-one entertainment box, allowing you to play games, watch movies, surf the web, etc. So, what's going on with the Switch?
The only major application you can currently get on the Switch is Youtube; no Netflix, not Disney+, nothing. The Switch is begging to have applications. The portability of the console makes it perfect for streaming; watching a show on your television, then undocking it and taking it anywhere else would be amazing. Streaming apps wouldn't be the only welcome addition.
How about apps for audiobooks and music; you could listen to something in the background while you're playing a game. What about book apps for reading, or apps for specific gaming services, such as Ubisoft Connect?
It's a real shame that Nintendo hasn't adopted major apps into the Switch. Even the Wii and Wii U had Netflix, and on the Wii U, you could even stream a show off Netflix directly to the gamepad's screen. As gaming consoles strive to be your all-in-one way to absorb entertainment, the Switch stands away from the competition, and not in a good way.
But, I mean, it does have Youtube, so... that's cool?
