Nintendo Switch 2020 Wish List: 10 Things We Need To See

7. Cheaper First Party Titles

Nintendo has arguably the best first party titles out of any of the Big Three video game powerhouses. They’re rightly proud of their collection, and they hoard their biggest games away. You’ll never play a Zelda or Mario title on another console - obviously, that’s a big reason to buy a bit of Nintendo hardware.

And while that’s all fair enough, it would be lovely if they would rethink their pricing strategy as their big titles age. Breath Of The Wild is coming on three years old now, and it still retails at full price. Mario Kart, Smash Bros, even Splatoon (not a first party title, but a Nintendo exclusive) - however long these games remain on the shelf, they simply don’t shift in price. Every now and then, the Switch homepage will light up with the exciting news of a big sale, but when you check, they’ve knocked a cursory 5% off of New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe. It’s not exactly cause to break out the champagne.

In fairness, we’re talking about some of the greatest examples of modern gaming here, but no one else seems to have such an aggressive confidence in the evergreen quality of their games. Just remember, Nintendo, everyone loves a bargain.
