Nintendo Switch 2020 Wish List: 10 Things We Need To See

2. Rethink The Dock

There’s no two ways about it - the dock just isn’t that nice a bit of kit. One of the selling points of the console is how quickly you can transition from handheld to playing on the TV, and yet despite significant community interest, there have been no updates to the original product.

The narrowness of the Nintendo version means you’re running the risk of scratching the screen every time you utilise the dock, and getting it all wired up is a bit of a fiddly endeavour. It’s also not especially sturdy or portable, so it hardly encourages taking it with you on a trip. The design of the Switch makes it ideal for taking it from room to room, but a second official dock will set you back nearly £70. There are third party versions which deal with some of the drawbacks of Nintendo’s version (compact, no walls), but many players would be reluctant to stick their console into a knockoff dock.

Ideally players would be able to plug the switch straight into the TV, but that’s not in line with the company’s aesthetic standards. And while it’s commendable to have such a strong look, a scratched up screen isn’t too aesthetically pleasing either.
