Nintendo Switch Pro: 10 Improvements It Desperately Needs
1. Fix Joy-Con Drift
Such is the prevalence of this inherent fault in the Switch’s native controller set that the company are currently being taken to court over it.
The joy-cons are a nifty bit of kit and a near-perfect addition to the Switch’s hybrid nature, allowing you to change your use of the device quickly and seamlessly.
However, countless Switch owners have reported the discovery of an inherent fault. One that cannot be ignored.
To the uninitiated, joy-con drift is a phenomenon whereby the traction of a controller’s analog stick senses input without any manual direction being given. This may seem like a minor issue at first glance, but the phantom movement can rapidly escalate, rendering the control useless.
Imagine playing a first person shooter with a scope that won’t stop moving. Imagine completing a puzzle that requires the slightest adjustments that you just can’t deliver.
Until recently Nintendo had been reluctant to fix affected devices for free and purchasing a potentially inherently flawed replacement costs upwards of £60. It’s a cycle that needs to be broken and if it isn’t, come the time of the Switch Pro/2, it will fast become a company defining trait and nobody wants that.
Especially Nintendo.
