Nintendo Switch Pro: 10 Improvements It Desperately Needs

9. 4/5G Network Connection

This is potentially a pricey pipe dream but bear with us. Fundamentally, the appeal of the Nintendo Switch is its portability and adaptability. One of the only hindrances to this is its reliance on wifi for online gaming.

If Nintendo were able to cut the Switch’s tether to wifi and give users the freedom to play online whenever, wherever they are, via the medium of a 4 or 5G network connection, it would be a revelation.

It could require Nintendo to make a substantial investment in an existing telecom company but if they pull it off, it could prove to be a lucrative move for all concerned. Think Apple’s initially exclusive relationship with O2.

On that blueprint, maybe users who open a contract with the potential provider could get free access to Nintendo’s online service, while others would simply have to pay a slightly inflated fee if they wanted to unlock the roaming potential of their console.

Nintendo have already successfully dipped their toe into the mobile and tablet gaming market. Surely a symbiotic relationship with a network is the next step in that direction.
