Nintendo Switch Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

5. Instant Local Co-Op Faster Than Any Other System

It is true that there aren't a huge amount of head-turners amongst the Switch's launch library, but what is out there is still pretty damn special.

Outside of Zelda, there are a number of awesome local multiplayer games, all of which make great use of just handing one 'half' of what would be a full Switch controller - comprised of two Joy-Cons - to a friend.

An incredibly innovative idea, Sony actually dove into split controllers too, back in 2011/12, yet the patent they filed for never saw the light of day. In the Switch's case, there is a downside in just how small one Joy-Con is, but the instant-access of popping any game on, the system recognising the pads are now turned sideways and letting you get going feels fantastically progressive, if not revolutionary, given where we could go from here.
