It's easy to get swept up in all the hype surrounding a new system's debut trailer, but with all of this shift towards a portable machine comes the reduction or support for physical media - or rather, only going with cartridges.

Case in point: Unlike the Wii U's support for past Wii games, the Switch doesn't support any discs whatsoever.

You'll presumably have to either re-download your past library or purchase any 'remastered'/definitive editions of older games on the new cartridges. Thankfully you can tell Nintendo are still prioritising the 'legacy' aspect of their business as the Switch's buttons and general layout still match up to consoles gone by. If pricing is acceptable and there's many some sort of 'upgrade' option for digital purchases, this could turn into a huge reason to invest.
