No Man's Sky: 16 Things You Didn't Know You Could Do

11. Make Millions Of Units In Minutes (What The Gold Stars Mean)

No Mans Sky Space Station
Hello Games

Shout out to Redditor Anti_Axis for figuring this out, as they realised not only do the gold stars seen when trading indicate a particular element is worth a lot of money, but that you can more often than not, acquire said materials from the pilots landing inside the space station.

"Buy low, sell high" has been the go-to adage in commerce for time immemorial, but here it takes on some far more immediate effects. First, head to the right of the station and see which resources have gold stars, then go back to the hangar and await these other ships.

Talk to the pilots and purchase the materials you need (for a vastly reduced price, if they're otherwise common), then go back to the first Trade Network terminal and sell them on for a hefty profit.

Anti_Axis notes they were able to "make 2 million every 15 minutes" which is pretty extraordinary. Thankfully, many of the higher-end ships tend to go for around three million anyway, so you best get saving.
