No Man’s Sky: 10 Huge Changes That Finally Make It Worth Playing

1. Terrain Manipulation, Survival Mode & Base Building

Hello Games

In all of this positivity, I've skirted over the new modes No Man's Sky gives you upon first starting.

Most common is the 'Normal' all-encompassing experience, but there's also a Perma-Death option if you want to see how far you can get on one life, a Survival mode where resources are more scarce, weather more volatile and the journey to leave a planet is far more challenging, and an unlimited resource Creative Mode, where you can build bases and terraform to your heart's content.

Building a homestead allows you to recruit alien workers to help build vehicles or farm crafting components, giving you a place to stay if you're wanting to call a specific planet your own.

Terraforming planets is the last new thing added too, with a specific weapon now letting you blow up or construct terrain on the fly. Fans have already found ways to bury into the ground and make underground lairs, as with the survival mode putting the focus on finding shelter from acid rain or bone-chilling storms, being able to carve a custom cave for yourself whenever you like, is pretty awesome.
