No Man's Sky NEXT: 15 Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You
11. Why You Should Focus On Mining Beam & Scanner Upgrades
Starting out in No Man's Sky can frankly be overwhelming, simply because of the ridiculous amount of percentage upgrades you can apply to everything from jetpack boosts to sprint speed, environmental hazard depletion to underwater breathing.
Something to prioritise then, would be your mining beam and scanner.
Upgrading the former gives you greater amounts of anything you're mining in the first place, and crunches the time required from half-minutes to seconds for larger deposits. Not to mention, some specific elements can only be mined after you have the Advanced Mining Laser.
Next is the Scanner, which even if you're not playing the game as a dedicated alien wildlife photographer, is worth upgrading as every plant, creature and sometimes building will give you more credits when uploaded.
Thankfully, No Man's Sky now auto-uploads all your creatures through the scanner itself, you just need to hop into the "Discoveries" part of the menu to do the same for planets and systems (which can also be renamed before you do so).
